I subscribe to a couple of overseas real estate investment publications from the International Living/Kathleen Peddicord groups. A few months ago one of the opportunities was to buy new construction apartments for long-term in Instanbul, Turkey. My wife vetoed it, despite my assurances that it was a moderate, modern, etc., etc., country. After all of the recent news, glad I didn’t. Maybe there will be an opportunity soon, but it’s not quite ready for it yet.

Turkey is a mess. Islamic fighters are operating along the border with Syria and occasionally carrying out terror strikes in Turkey as well.

Know what you are getting into before you commit.
